Burrowes Instruments focuses mainly on the mechanical design and fabrication of science instruments and equipment, principally in the advanced optics field, although we’ve also worked regularly for RF researchers, medical device developers, materials testing labs, and industrial laser marking manufacturers.

We do not engage in work as a P.E., or “Professional Engineer.” Our expertise does not include civil engineering, habitable structures, manned flight vehicles, or many other specialized areas. Where systems require, we partner or subcontract with qualified engineers in specific disciplines to accomplish project goals. Past partnerships have included remote telescope placement, with civil engineer consulting, automated systems with electrical and control engineers, and an unmanned space flight experiment with partner for vibration analysis and testing.
